Nathan was born and raised in a small town in western Pennsylvania. His father was a carpenter, and he spent his childhood summers alongside his father, from second grade forward. Working with his father is what made him realize his passion and drew him to the profession. At age fourteen, his family relocated to Hilton Head Island, SC. As a sixteen year old high school student, Nathan began his woodworking and carpentry career, working part time painting and patching drywall for a remodeling contractor. This work quickly evolved from handyman duties to small construction projects. After seven years doing various rot repair, window and door replacements, siding, decks, and small remodels and additions, he felt the need to be challenged further. Nathan teamed up with a quality home builder, where he worked on all phases of new construction, as well as whole home remodeling projects.

For eight years, Nathan worked with the home builder, refining his skills as a craftsman, as they completed many high-end and custom projects. In 2009, he moved to Asheville, NC to start his own business, Nathan Auge Custom Carpentry. He formed Black Locust Builders, LLC in 2016.

In Nathan's twenty eight year career, he has had the good fortune of working with some exceptional craftsmen and wonderful clients. Those experiences have given him the opportunity to become an exceptional craftsman himself. The combination of Nathan's work ethic, attention to detail, creativity, and experience make him a well qualified professional in the field.
